Position Reports to: Designated Manager
Position Directly Supervises: None
Purpose of Position: Maintains and improves patients’ oral health by fabricating fixed and removable prosthesis according to dentist’ prescriptions.

Overtime Status: Non-Exempt
Essential Duties:
  • Fabricates and repairs dental prosthesis / dental appliances such as dentures, partials, crown and bridge, inlay/onlay, veneers and implant restorations.
  • Follows doctors’ written orders and instruction.
  • Communicates with colleagues and mangers in a prompt articulate manner.
  • Uses a wide range of materials, such as metal (precious, non-precious, gold) or not metal materials (porcelain, composite, acrylic, polyurethane, co-polyester, thermo plastic).
  • Replaces partial or total loss of natural teeth by constructing partial or full dentures (metal and non-metal).
  • Restores natural teeth and corrects dental irregularities by manufacturing fixed or removable appliances.
  • Constructs prostheses by following the dentist's prescription; making models of the mouth and teeth from impressions of the patient's mouth taken by the dentist; building-up wax replicas of part or all of the mouth and/or teeth on the model; encasing the wax in a mould material and melting away the wax; replacing the wax with plastic, metal, or ceramic materials to make the replacement appliance; polishing and finishing the appliance prior to its being placed in the patient's mouth by the dentist.
  • Relies on technical knowledge to make decisions and accomplish departmental goals.
  • Utilizes and conserves supplies and equipment by completing plaster casting, metal casting, die trimming, metal polishing, wax modeling, wire bending, sandblasting, electroplating, electro-spot welding and CAD/CAM techniques.
  • Uses different kinds of hand tools and equipment (electric drills, presses, lathes, high-heat furnaces, etc).
  • Documents actions by completing forms, logs and reports.
  • Works closely with quality control specialists and addresses all issues regarding the quality standards.
  • Follows the quality standard protocol.
  • Recognizes and reports problem cases or cases that need additional prep work.
  • Follows-up on specific requests made by the dentists on a particular case.
  • Works independently or seeks help if needed.

Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Proficient in English verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to read and compose written materials with proper English grammar and punctuation.

  • High familiarity of QC standards, procedures and applicable techniques.

Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions
This is primarily a manufacturing environment with moderate noise levels and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances. Finger dexterity is needed to hold and work with the hand tools. The position primarily requires the individual to be mobile, bend, lift up to twenty five (25) pounds, reach, sit, walk and stare at small objects from close range; requires close attention to detail.
