Quality Control Specialist

Position Reports to: Designated Manager or Supervisor, as assigned
Position Directly Supervises: None
Purpose of Position: Inspects, accepts and / or rejects work performed by dental technicians in a particular discipline in compliance with applicable procedures and/or specifications.
Job Group Description: Quality Control Assurance
Overtime Status: Non-Exempt
Essential Duties:
  • Performs inspections of products manufactured by dental technicians.
  • Serves as a liaison between dental technicians and managers.
  • Performs quality control inspections according to the quality standard procedures.
  • Communicates with colleagues, dental technicians and mangers in a prompt articulate manner.
  • Relies on extensive technical knowledge to make decisions and accomplish departmental goals.
  • Evaluates each case thoroughly to assure correct product per Rx specification.
  • Maintains a day to day professional relationship with dental technicians and managers.
  • Communicates with supervisors, other QC personnel and technicians about work quality, quality standards, turnaround time, deadlines and work flow.
  • Produces constructive feedback for all dental technicians in regards to their quality of work produced.
  • Cooperates and works with floor supervisors on day-to-day basis.
  • Ensures the high productivity and work quality by problem solving, motivating and helping technicians.
  • Complies with safety procedures.
  • Seeks advice and input from the manger when needed.

Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of three years of related experience.
  • High familiarity of QC standards, procedures and applicable techniques.
  • Ability to determine acceptability and rejectability of work based on assigned criteria.
  • Good English verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to make procedural decisions and judgments.
  • Dental technology skills with at least 3 years experience.
  • Reliability, dependability and flexibility.
  • Multi-task oriented.
  • Problem solving abilities.
  • Time management skills.
Special Requirments / Certification:
May require a certification (CDT) in area of specialty.
Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions
This is primarily a manufacturing environment with moderate noise levels and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances. Finger dexterity is needed to hold and work with the hand tools. The position primarily requires the individual to be mobile, bend, lift up to twenty five (25) pounds, reach, sit, walk and stare at small objects from close range; requires close attention to detail.
